What to expect at the upcoming Leaders Council roundtable

Published by Leaders Council on February 12th 2023, 3:03pm

As recently reported, The Leaders Council will shortly be returning to the Caledonian Club in Belgravia for a roundtable discussion on the workforce of the future.

Below, we set out what attendees can expect on the day:

Things to know

  • The Caledonian Club is a private members club based in Belgravia, west London. The nearest tube stations are Hyde Park Corner and Knightsbridge. It is a 10-15 minute walk from Victoria Station.
  • Dress code: office attire.
  • The roundtable conversation will last for around one hour, with a chance for networking before and afterwards.
  • Around 30 people will attend in total and everyone will have the opportunity to speak.
  • Drinks and a light breakfast spread will be provided.

Expected discussion points

These discussion points are not set in stone. We will allow the conversation to flow as naturally as possible. If you want to speak, simply raise your hand and the chairperson will make a note and bring you in as soon as possible. Please also feel free to send in suggested talking points ahead of the meeting.

  1. The root causes and effects of the skills shortage.
  2. The successes and failures of apprenticeship schemes.
  3. The link between education and industry.
  4. How the workforce may change over the next ten years.

What happens afterwards?

After you have attended the roundtable, we will send you a short summary about the discussion. This will also be sent on to relevant figures in parliament and Whitehall.

We will then begin putting together an in-depth special report based on the topics we have discussed. This special report will typically include commentary from MPs, industry body leaders and Leaders Council members. We will schedule a phone call discussion with you to give you the full details of this report and you will be given the opportunity to contribute to it if you wish to do so.

The special report will be published roughly two months after the date of the roundtable discussion. Its release will be marked with an event at the Houses of Parliament.

If you are a Leaders Council member and you would like to attend, please contact your account manager. For non-members, these discussions are invitation-only but feel free to get in touch to express an interest.
