As businesses across the country face up to the current economic situation, CEO of Flexicare UK Ltd. a support provider for individuals in their homes, workplaces or on holiday, spoke with The Leaders Council about the importance of remaining calm during a crisis. Meanwhile Matt Hancock has said it is “quite likely” more countries will be added to the quarantine list.

Flexicare UK Ltd. have worked tirelessly amid the pandemic to continue to provide support for their customers, ensuring individuals continue to receive the support they need at home, in work or even on holiday. In an interview with The Leaders Council of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, CEO Jeanette Phillips discussed how operations have continued in spite of Covid-19.
Phillips notes it is essential for those working across the country to “Stay as calm as you can, and really connect your thinking to your doing.”
As CEO of Flexicare, Phillips appreciates the importance of supporting action with research, as she considers: “We have our own research centre, the CPIC, which is a practical centre providing support and care.”
During the pandemic, Flexicare have been supported by the local community and the county council with offers of PPE provision. An adoption of online training has also ensured Phillips’ team is able to continue their education under a virtual model.
Phillips concludes that the most important element of leadership is “a flexibility of thought that is required. Effective leaders know when to change and to adapt.”

Health secretary, Matt Hancock has admitted that it is “quite likely” more countries will join the quarantine list.
In an interview with BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, he noted: "We don't know - that is one of the things we are looking at. But for the time being quarantine is 14 days."
When asked about the second wave, as cases continue to spike in other countries, Hancock said: "I am worried about a second wave. I think you can see a second wave starting to roll across Europe and we've got to do everything we can to prevent it from reaching these shores and to tackle it.”
He concluded: “a second wave it is something I worry about and I worry about it because we can see it happening."
Concerns over a second wave have been confirmed as Cambridge research demonstrates a rise in R rates across the country.
In England, four out of seven regions have seen an increase in the rate of infections, with the south-east and south-west of the country noting an exponential rise in the virus.
Scientists at the Cambridge MRC Biostatistics Unit have said it is “very likely” that rates are close to one in most regions in England. They have attributed this to the lifting of lockdown measures.
