Aldercar High School to host maiden careers fair in November

Aldercar High School in Langley Mill, Nottingham will be hosting its first careers fair on Tuesday November 15, 2022, in the school’s main hall.

With current labour shortages in key UK industries a well-documented issue, Aldercar is taking the lead on encouraging its pupils to engage with their career aspirations as early as possible to help embark on their chosen career path and maximise their outcomes.

The purpose of the careers fair, which runs from 17:00-19:00 GMT on the day, is to raise awareness among Aldercar pupils of the wide range of careers available to them and the opportunities that various sectors can offer.

Experts from a wide range of sectors and institutions have been invited, including from the Armed Forces, the Police and the plumbing industry, plus engineers, care workers, mechanics, nurses, interior designers, architects and more.

Each exhibitor will hold a stand in the main hall venue and Aldercar students in Years 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 will be able to visit these stands and ask questions.

Aldercar High School’s careers lead, Miss Tyrrell, says: “To maximise the impact of the evening, we’re encouraging all parents of Aldercar pupils to have a conversation with their children both before and after the event to embolden them to start the process of thinking about life after GCSE. This will enable us both to work together in tailoring effective careers information and guidance to meet the needs of the pupils’ aspirations.

“We believe this event is a valuable opportunity to support our students in enabling them to make sensible and informed decisions about their future.”
