Managing Director, The Nappy Lady
Wendy Richards is the managing director of The Nappy Lady Ltd & The Period Lady. www.thenappylady.co.uk is a a multi-award winning nappy specialist which stocks ethically produced modern reusable nappies. In 2020 Richards opened the www.theperiodlady.co.uk as a dedicated store for reusable menstrual products. These were not a new product to Richards as these were already stocked on The Nappy Lady. Many mothers make the move to reusable menstrual products after using washable nappies. Wendy wanted to reach a larger audience through a dedicated specialist menstrual site.
Richards first joined the business in 2006, following 11 years working as a store manager for WH Smith Ltd. In 2010, Richards was appointed managing director of The Nappy Lady, and the business has gone on to win multiple awards during her tenure including Best Independent Retailer at the Nursery Industry Awards in 2013.In 2019 Richards was invited to take part in the parlimentary review as an example of best business practise for small businesses.
In June 2020, Richards appeared on a Leaders Council of Great Britain & Northern Ireland podcast, discussing the importance of leadership and the impact it has had on her career to date.
