Career Overview

In her earlier career, Collis was the acting East Midlands regional manager during the merger of the Community Fund and New Opportunities Fund to create the Big Lottery Fund. She then became the East Midlands regional manager for the Big Lottery Fund, holding the role until 2007.

Collis then spent a year as the third sector commissioning manager for the East Midlands Development Agency, working on social enterprise development and commissioning, before moving onto Self Help UK.

Collis has been at the helm of Self Help UK since 2008. Since October 2018, Collis has been a member of the board at charity coalition National Voices and chair of the board of trustees and directors at Healthwatch Nottingham & Nottinghamshire, an independent organisation that helps people get the best out of their local health and care services.

In September 2020, Collis appeared on a Leaders Council of Great Britain & Northern Ireland podcast, discussing the importance of leadership and the impact it has had on her career to date.

Education

In the 1980s, Collis attended Trent Polytechnic, where she attained a BA Hons Degree in Social Sciences. 

Decades later, in 2004, she would return to her former university, which by then went by its current name of Nottingham Trent University. She completed a Master's [MBA] in Business Administration, completing her studies in 2006.

Volunteer Work

Between 2004 and 2009, Collis sat as non-executive chair for Nottingham's Women's Advice Centre, which helps provide support for women and children experiencing domestic abuse.
