Mark Turner is managing director of Medical Engineering Technologies (MET), a laboratory service which tests the safety and performance of medical devices.

Mark Turner is director of Medical Devices within the Medical Engineering Technologies (MET) and Wickham Micro partnership, a laboratory service which tests the safety and performance of medical devices.

Career Overview

Turner set up MET himself in 1997. For two years he lived of personal savings, his wife's income and earnings from driving a taxi in the evenings. 

Over two decades later, MET serves clients on every continent on earth, except for Antarctica. The company was acquired by Wickham micro in 2022.

In June 2020, Turner appeared on a Leaders Council of Great Britain and Northern Ireland podcast, discussing the importance of leadership and the role it has played in his career to date.

Education

Turner is an alumnus of Prifysgol Cymru and Aberystwyth University. He holds a BSC/MBA in Chemistry. 

Pre MET

Before establishing MET in the 1990s, Turner worked as a project manager for Smiths Medical, a company originating in Minneapolis, Minnesota, US, which is a leading global manufacturer of specialty medical devices that provides innovative and lifesaving solutions for the hospital, emergency, home and specialist environments.
