Laween Al-Atroshi is the CEO of Atrumed, which runs the on-site emergency GP clinic at the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital, and its sister company Atruchecks. He is also a chief research officer at the NHS, accountable for Trust Research & Development, Commercial Innovation activity and Service Evaluation.

Career Overview

Over the years, Laween has accumulated much experience in operations, intelligence gathering and crisis management, resulting from specialised operations in hostile environments. He also has a track record of establishing productive and supportive working relationships with key stakeholders from multinational agencies.

Laween formerly worked as a UK government official with the Clinical Policy, Governance & Strategy Team for the UK Department of Health and is currently chief research officer at one of the NHS’ most proficient Burns and Plastics Trusts.

Laween currently serves as the National Institute for Health Research and Clinical Research Network’s Good Clinical Practice programme lead and facilitator, where he provides specialist training to healthcare professionals including at consultant level. He is also well-versed in reputation, crisis management, drafting ministerial briefings and responses to official letters and parliamentary questions. He supported the project and policy management of the Performers List & Responsible Officer Regulation and is trained by the UK National School of Government and UK Civil Service on policy and communications strategies. His responsibilities portfolio involves Research Delivery Strategy, Commercial Innovation and Service Evaluation. He is heavily involved in policy design & study, professional regulations, and financial instruments.

Outside of his main work, Laween is an established public speaker and lectures on how marketers can build their businesses and improve their brand value, as well as make developments in R&D within the evolving landscape of big-data and digitisation. He is also involved in philanthropic activities where he regularly guests on programmes across the media.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Laween oversaw the work of Atruchecks in supplying antibody tests at cost-price and helped engineer a partnership with Eurofins Scientific to provide an accredited Covid PCR test express service turning over results within 24 hours.

Education

Laween attended St. George’s University of London, graduating with a BSc in Biomedical Informatics. He has also studied Nanomedicine at the University of Oxford and completed a PGCPC in Primary Care at King’s College London.
