Jeannette Preston is the founder of PantsCancers, a community interest company and charity based in Falmouth, Cornwall.

Career Overview

Preston began working as a registered general/obstetric nurse a Royal Cornwall Hospital as well as training as a social worker with South West Peninsula, Plymouth and Exeter Universities and becoming involved in Child Protection. She has also trained as a teacher and lectured in Health and Social Care and Child Protection as subjects at Cornwall College.

The formation of PantsCancers came about after Preston suffered from womb cancer during her 50s. She started the business in 2009 as a sole trader, before it became a community interest company. The company encouraged people onto its website to find good quality information on the signs and symptoms of cancers which affect the nether regions of the body.

Having grown into a community interest company and charity, PantsCancers employs staff and works to help meet the needs of the local community, supported by funds generated from its charity shops. The company continues to support those with cancers and other individuals who need help.

The organisation takes on apprentices in its charity shops to help provide vital retail experience, which will eventually be of help to them in the competitive work market.

The fundraising arm of the business is aiming to pledge funds to the Royal Cornwall Hospital, in order to purchase key diagnostic equipment for cancers of the nether regions of the body.

In August 2020, Preston appeared on a Leaders Council of Great Britain & Northern Ireland podcast, discussing the importance of leadership and the impact it has had on her career to date.
