Ed Hoppitt is the EMEA Director of Apps and Cloud Native Platforms for VMware, a software specialist that offers a breadth of digital solutions which power apps, services, and experiences, enabling organisations to deliver the best customer service and empower employees.
After graduating university in 1999 with a degree in Computer Science and Management, Ed spent just under 13 years working for BT Global Services as a principal architect for BT Cloud Compute. In the position, he was responsible for supporting BT Global customers to take advantage of cloud and infrastructure as a service offering through consultancy and leading commercial bid responses. As principal architect, he oversaw datacenter investment strategy across the Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America regions. He also built and delivered the global sales enablement for cloud/datacenter sales strategy to professional services and sales teams.
Ed has been with Vmware since 2012, the year he left BT. He started out with the business as a Business Solution Strategist and then ascending the corporate ladder within the firm to occupy his current role.
Now as EMEA Director of Apps and Cloud Native Platforms, Ed sits on VMware's EMEA Technical Leadership team and supports VMware's Pre-Sales teams as they deliver solutions for customers. He heads a virtual team of Application Domain Architects. The role is directly customer-facing, engaging with some of VMware's largest customers and stepping in to act as a trusted advisor/account CTO function as well as supporting VMware's Global marketing teams as a spokesperson and regularly featured speaker and contributor.
In August 2021, Ed appeared on a Leaders Council of Great Britain & Northern Ireland podcast, discussing the importance of leadership and the impact it has had on his career to date.
