Tim is an experienced research and insight professional, with a background in social science and over 13 years of experience working in communications, data, marketing and technology.

Chris Combemale is the CEO of the Data & Marketing Association [DMA], a trade organisation for marketers which is considered to be the driving force behind marketing, setting the standards for the UK’s data and marketing community to thrive.

Career Overview

Chris is an experienced international business leader who has successfully grown and transformed companies on three continents. Starting his career on the TV production team of Bob Stivers Associates and Pasetta Productions in Los Angeles, California in the early 1980s, Chris then spent 11-and-a-half years as managing director of Young & Rubicam/Wunderman. It was here where he first cut his teeth in the world of advertising and experienced working in New York, Hong Kong and Singapore.

In the 1990s, Chris’ career focus transitioned more squarely toward data driven companies. In 1994 he became the London-based European media and sourcing director for The Franklin Mint, a pioneer in data-driven direct commerce, before the advent of e-commerce. Chris’ leadership helped the company turn over $1 billion of sales at its peak. 

In 1998, Chris founded and led an early-stage e-commerce company under the Living Heritage brand, known as The Gallery of European Heritage. After almost two years running the company, Chris moved on to Email Vision, one of Europe’s first-generation cloud marketing technology solutions companies. He took up the role of chief operating officer and UK managing director, holding the roles for nine years before joining the Data & Marketing Association [DMA] in 2009.

Education

Chris is an alumnus of Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, where he attained a BA in Creative Writing.
