Riverside Education receives visit from local Christian charity

In October, Birmingham-based specialist independent school Riverside Education was visited by local Christian charity, the Birmingham City Mission.

The Birmingham City Mission charity exists to share God’s love across the city of Birmingham and runs a plethora of projects to aid the young, old, homeless and vulnerable. Their work has been made all the more critical by the ongoing cost-of-living crisis currently being experienced in the UK, with many more people struggling to make ends meet and needing to fall back on additional support available in the community.

Birmingham Christian Mission took the time during the visit to speak to Riverside Education’s cohort of young people, who are typically aged between 14 and 19 and have special educational needs.

The visitors highlighted some of the projects they run across the city of Birmingham to help the elderly, homeless and vulnerable, as well as how they as young people could make their own contribution and play a positive role in their local community.

Riverside Education’s headteacher and founder, Dr Abide Zenenga, commented: “Birmingham City Mission spoke to your young people about what projects they run to help those struggling such as and how we can offer our support.

“It was lovely to see our young people engaging with this important message to love our neighbour and support those around us. We hope to see Birmingham City Mission again!”
