Public health and safety organisation NSF International has recently announced the acquisition of Global Trust Certification Ltd, an Irish company specialising in seafood certification, in an undisclosed deal.

The acquisition was made by NSF Certification Ireland Ltd, one of NSF International’s global subsidiaries.

Dundalk-based Global Trust specialises in certification, auditing and inspection for clients all over the world, and has been a part of SAI Global since 2012. It operates in over 49 countries and boasts national and international certification contracts, as well as a workforce of 87 employees and contractors.

Following the merger, Global Trust’s expertise will be combined with NSF’s seafood business unit.

NSF International president and CEO Kevan Lawlor commented: “The acquisition of Global Trust is aligned with our strategy for NSF International and expands our capabilities and expertise in seafood standards and certification programs globally.

“Global Trust has a talented team with unique expert knowledge, insights and understanding of the seafood and fishery industries, which helps clients understand how they can enhance their current sourcing policies.”

Global Trust general manager Eoghan Stedman added: “Global Trust is focused on delivering auditing and certification services for our customers around the world.

“Our success is a direct result of our talented and dedicated employees and we’re excited that this combination will enable us to continue to expand our reach and grow our business.”
