Jeweller Pragnell named in Insider's top 300 mid-market companies

Independent Stratford-upon-Avon-based jeweller Pragnell has been named on Midlands Business Insider's top 300 mid-market companies list.

Leicester-based wealth management firm Mattioli Woods took the top spot, while Pragnell ranked 26th, with its turnover having surged past the £50 million mark during the last financial year.

With shops in Stratford-upon-Avon, Leicester and Mayfair, Pragnell won a Queen's Award for International Trade back in 2018 and can trace its roots back to 1850.

The family-owned business employs more than 100 people and manufactures its own jewellery from scratch, ranging from small gifts for a few hundred pounds to seven-figure, investment-grade pieces.

Pragnell also offers a selection of antique and period jewellery and Swiss watches, including Rolex and Patek Philippe.

In his recent contribution to The Parliamentary Review, chairman and CEO Charlie Pragnell explained that digital innovation would play a crucial role in the company's future.

"Our growth has been driven by reinvesting profits into our stock, our team and our showrooms," he wrote.

"We opened a store on Mount Street, Mayfair, in November 2017, which has started well, largely as a result of providing a highly-personal style of customer service.

"Our headquarters in Stratford-upon-Avon is still our largest location and attracts visitors from around the world. In 1991, my father expanded my grandparents’ original shop at number five Wood Street into number six, and in 2019 we extended into number seven, doubling the size of the store. The next step is digital expansion and last summer we launched our ecommerce platform.

"The world is making a seismic step in digital innovation, and we see our website as our fourth location and one with international potential."
