Jaffray Care, a leading charity which supports individuals requiring additional help due to complex healthcare needs, featured as a sponsor of the recent National Learning Disabilities & Autism Awards for 2022 and walked away with one of the top prizes.
The July awards gala was held at Birmingham’s International Convention Centre [ICC] and co-hosted by TV presenter and comedian Steve Walls, and journalist, presenter and reality TV star, the Reverend Kate Botley.
Jaffray Care CEO Lee Hendon and his team of managers were honoured with the Frontline Leader Award for the year, in recognition of their unwavering dedication to service users, staff and the wider community.
When faced with challenges through the pandemic, Lee and his team stepped up, were proactive and showed remarkable leadership, which impressed both their nominator and the judging panel.
Jaffray’s director of estates, Mike Weir, proudly presented three of the awards across all 18 categories that were allocated at the July showpiece as part of the sponsorship agreement.
Weir handed out the accolades of Independent Support Worker of the Year (to SENAD Community’s Julianne Gallagher), Not-For-Profit Support Worker of the Year, (won by Marvin Hamilton Chambers from Outward) and Complex Support Worker of the Year (to Holmleigh Care’s Ben Doyle).
Commenting on having had the honour of handing out the awards, Weir said: “Congratulations to the wonderful people and teams that have been nationally recognised for positively leading their service and staff through the pandemic.
“Their ability to deal with any challenge that was thrown at them and always think outside the box has to be applauded. True and inspirational leaders in every sense and people who kept their heads when everyone else was beginning to lose theirs. Those who have been recognised with these awards always held the line, stood face on and were ever-present on the frontline.
“Strong and supportive, these winners represent every care worker and manager who has worked through the pandemic and deserves recognition for keeping everyone safe and alive in their care while also dealing with loss and uncertainty.”
