Grant Palmer’s opting into Cygnet pass helps public transport users travel more affordably

From October 1 last year, Bedfordshire bus operator Grant Palmer relaunched the ‘Cygnet’ travel ticket in tandem with fellow transport operator Stagecoach and local authority Bedford Borough Council.

The Cygnet travel ticket enables bus users to switch freely between services run by the three operators without having to purchase multiple tickets.

Cygnet works as a paper ticket, which is sold and accepted on any services run by Grant Palmer, Stagecoach and Uno. It allows for unlimited travel on any bus run by the trio in the Bedford Zone within a day or week-long period, and users can mix and match bus providers.

The news has come as a major boost for residents living within the Cygnet travel zone, which stretches over the area covered by the Stagecoach Megarider that includes the whole of Bedford and Kempston, plus surrounding villages such as Bromham, Oakley, Cople and Elstow.

The Cygnet travel pass is sold at a price of just £6 for a day ticket, with the week-long ticket priced at £18, and service users have now enjoyed just over three months of more affordable travel as a result.

Current Covid-19 guidance issued by the government stipulates that any individuals travelling on any bus service must wear a face covering unless exempt.
