Covid-19: Homegrown innovation to help UK employees return to work safely

On Tuesday June 2, British manufacturer Trimite Global Coatings launched its new ShieldmeTM range, offering new ways for public places to become coronavirus free as the UK lockdown restrictions continue to ease.

ShieldmeTM consists of a range of sanitising products, including surface cleaners and misters. Its latest innovation is a walk-through sanitising tunnel equipped with a unique spray mist system, the first of its kind in the UK.

The sanitising tunnels are equipped with a proven and laboratory approved, non-toxic and environmentally safe disinfectant spray that mists the air as each person moves through it. The spray kills bacteria, fungus and viruses including Covid 19. Once people emerge from the sanitation tunnel, all skin, hair, clothes, and belongings are then virus free.

The ShieldmeTM mist spray, which is made in the UK, is so fine that it also enables people to emerge from the sanitising tunnel dry. Tunnels are also small enough to be placed in an entrance or doorway, meaning they are ideal for workplaces.

David Roberts, chairman of the Trimite Group which will distribute the products, said: "To walk into any building free from Covid 19; and to know that everyone else in that building is also coronavirus free, is a great boost to confidence".

Roberts added: "With ShieldmeTM in operation, public places including hospitals, airports, sports stadiums, offices, factories, hotels and restaurants can offer the reassurance of cleanliness for everyone. We hope that this simple combination of our sanitising products used regularly throughout the building and our tunnel at the door will give UK businesses a much-needed boost while allowing the Great British public to safely live their lives.

"We foresee that this will come as a major lift for everyone, and will significantly enhance Trimite's export opportunities".

Nick Munster, CEO of Rimstock, said: "We took delivery last week of the first tunnel and we are thrilled that we can now bring back all of our 250 employees knowing that all of them will have a quick and effective process that is easy to use for their safe working and protection".
