Coronavirus update: Johnson makes "good progess"

Downing Street have said that the prime minister has made "very good progress" since leaving intensive care on Sunday.

This news comes off the back of 917 new Covid-19 deaths in the country. This rise means the total UK death toll has exceeded 9,800.

In the Republic of Ireland, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has announced that the country's lockdown will continue until at least May 5.

In the US, more than 2,000 people have died in a single day. President Donald Trump, however, has announced that he thinks the country's "aggressive strategy" is working and that he expects the death toll to be lower than the initial estimate of 100,000.

And in India, it appears that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will agree to extend the nationwide lockdown.

The global death toll now stands at over 100,000.

The next Leaders Council update will follow tomorrow, Easter Sunday. Happy Easter!
