Aurora Media Worldwide enters partnership with Youth Beyond Borders

Aurora Media Worldwide has been announced as an inaugural partner of Youth Beyond Borders’ [YBB] ground-breaking mentorship programme, starting next year.

As a partner of the mentorship programme, Aurora will help provide work opportunities and guidance for young people in YBB’s network to help them enter the creative industry.

Youth Beyond Borders is a new youth-focused cultural collective led by young people between the ages of 16 and 22 who hail from under-represented communities. It provides authentic research, production and recruitment projects through their talented young creatives.

YBB is a social enterprise arm of the Football Beyond Borders [FBB] organisation, a longstanding partner of Aurora.

FBB is the leading educational and social inclusion charity which uses the power of the sport of football to transform the lives of children and young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds, inside and outside of full-time education. All profits generated by YBB initiatives are reinvested back into FBB programmes.

Aurora has relished working closely with FBB and YBB over the past year on a number of film projects including Redrawing The Pitch, an original short documentary for FIFA+, telling the story of how FBB use the power of football to transform the lives of young girls in the UK. The documentary focuses on the story of Umme, a young FBB participant in Nelson, Lancashire.

Aurora is passionate about providing opportunities for young people and recognises the importance of the entire media industry in nurturing young creative talent, especially from under-represented communities. Further announcements will be made in future on further initiatives Aurora will be partnering up with YBB and FBB on.

Aurora’s role as a YBB mentorship partner will see the media company work with YBB to launch an eight-month mentorship programme in 2023. Aurora will provide guidance, industry opportunities and work placement programmes for young people in the YBB community, helping them on their journey in developing careers in the creative industries. The Aurora team was present at YBB’s official launch event at Peckham Levels in South London last week, ahead of next year’s work developing the mentorship programme.

The mentorship programme overall aims to establish mutually valuable connections and relationships, with longer-term benefits for all involved.

Barry Flanigan, Aurora’s chief strategy officer, commented: “Aurora have really enjoyed working with Football Beyond Borders and Youth Beyond Borders over the last year and we’re now excited to be supporting the official launch of YBB.

“We couldn’t be prouder to be an inaugural partner for the YBB mentorship scheme providing opportunities for the brilliant young creative talent in YBB's community.”
