Bellfield Junior School in Birmingham, West Midlands, retained its status as a ‘Good’ school following its latest Ofsted inspection during the summer.
The inspection, carried out over June 29 and 30, concluded that the school was ‘Good’ across all areas, including quality of education, behaviour & attitudes, personal development and leadership & management.
The outcome saw the school retain its 'Good' status, following its previous inspection in March 2017.
Lead inspector Jo Evans highlighted that pupils feel safe at school knowing that their wellbeing is prioritised, as well as being “happy, confident” and demonstrating that they “enjoy learning”.
The school’s leadership structure was also praised, with governors and staff said to be “united in their drive to ensure that pupils benefit from a well-planned, broad and ambitious curriculum” and the prioritisation of reading given rightful credit.
Evans and her inspection team also highlighted the good work of Bellfield’s governors for their careful planning of opportunities for teaching staff to work together and share good practice, while recommending that teachers work on identifying pupil “misconceptions” quickly to ensure they truly understand the content they’re learning before moving onto further topics. This, the inspectors say, will be necessary for the school to progress to an ‘Outstanding’ outcome.
