Peter Clare is the managing director of Environmental Crop Management, a company which provides agronomy services to farmers, helping them manage crop health with minimal environmental disturbance while delivering high yields.
Career Overview
Environmental Crop Management has been in operation since 1991, and under Clare’s leadership works with over 1,200 farmers to provide services.
ECM has won eleven Green Apple Awards and nine Green Hero Awards for their pioneering work that has included schemes to reintroduce the Barn Owl, reduce farm waste, reduce the quantity and frequency of pesticide applications and educate farmers in the latest technology to protect the environment.
The company has also carried out research into responsible use of pesticides in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University. Over 400 undergraduate students have benefited from working with ECM and being able to take part in research projects.
During Clare's tenure, ECM has acted as a bridge between farmers and conservationists, and the company is an active ambassador for the RSPB, the Hawk and Owl Trust, FWAG and LEAF.
In July 2020, Clare appeared on a Leaders Council of Great Britain & Northern Ireland podcast, discussing the importance of leadership and its impact on his career to date.
