Career Overview
Education and accountancy career
Garrod studied Chartered Accountancy at Catford Secondary School, London, undergoing a course run by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales [ICAEW].
In 1974, Garrod became the chief accountant for five operating subsidies of bookmaker, William Hill Ltd.
Stint and CBS and founding a business
After four years with William Hill, Garrod became the financial controller for CBS Records in 1978. He would spend just over four-and-a-half years in the role before launching his own business, Garrod Beckett & Company.
Established in 1983 as a niche practice with multi-discipline skilled staff focusing on SMEs, the company was incorporated as Garrod Beckett & CO Ltd in November 1992.
