Work on the Meridian Park data centre in North London has been completed, Ark Data Centres has announced.

Development began in 2019, with Concert Technologies given the role of cost manager and principal designer to guide the project.

Sustainability was a key focus throughout for Ark Data Centres, with the site benefitting from electrical power generated from Edmonton EcoPark, which transforms waste into low-carbon energy.

The site was developed over four phases, with the finished scheme delivering 16MW of white space over 7nr Data Halls.

These will be cooled by indirect evaporative cooling units housed on external plant gantries.

The site on which Ark Data Centres developed Meridian Park was previously a distribution centre and several adaptations were made to support the transition.

The ground floor slab was replaced to increase loading capacity, while a new mezzanine floor was built.

"We're proud to announce that the Meridian Park data centre, located in North London, reached practical completion last month," the firm wrote on LinkedIn.

"This project began in 2019 where we appointed Concert Technologies as Cost Manager and Principal Designer to help us transform this brownfield site into an innovative and sustainable data centre."

“We have worked successfully on several projects for Ark Data Centres for over a decade now and I am always impressed with their commitment to social responsibility and their pioneering approach to sustainable development," added Concert director Daniel Wright.

Ark Data Centres aim to empower businesses by designing and operating data centres.

Market leaders in terms of social responsibility, its facilities leverage 100 per cent renewable energy, while also ensuring optimum security, high availability and sustainable scalability.
