UK Export Finance [UKEF] has this week appointed a new chief strategy & impact officer and digital, data & technology [DDAT] director to its senior leadership team.

The award-winning export credit agency has appointed Julia Beck as chief strategy & impact officer, while Paul Neville has also joined its executive committee in the position of digital, data & technology [DDAT] director.

UKEF has provided financial support worth some £33.4 billion to UK exporters over the previous five years, to bolster the UK’s position on the global stage in a sustainable manner.

Beck has been with UKEF since 2016, and most recently worked as deputy director for strategy within the Strategy, Policy and Climate Change Directorate [SPoCC]. In her new role, she will continue to develop UKEF’s strategy and impact approach, deliver on its sustainability agenda and grow its relationships across government and internationally.

Meanwhile, Neville has joined the agency from the London Borough of Waltham Forest local authority, for which he worked as director of digital and ICT and oversaw a major modernisation programme. He is experienced in the fields of digital and technology from his career background with Sky and BT and will align UK Export Finance’s digital, technology, data and change & transformations teams to modernise operations.

UK Export Finance’s director of resources, Shane Lynch, said of the appointments: “The depth of experience and talent across UKEF are what make us the world’s best export credit agency. Julia and Paul have already made a positive impact in their new roles, bringing energy and new ideas to the department.

“Ensuring we retain and attract talented people is hugely important and allows UKEF to deliver on its mission for UK exporters.”

Newly appointed chief strategy & impact officer, Julia Beck, commented: “I’m delighted to start my new role leading UKEF’s Strategy, Policy and Climate Change Directorate, which has gone from strength to strength in recent years.

“I will ensure that UKEF continues to deliver with impact on government priorities, from achieving our sustainability agenda to maintaining an agile and adaptable product offering for UK exporters that drives economic prosperity across the country.”

Paul Neville, the new director of digital, data & technology, said: “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to lead the new DDAT team at UK Export Finance.

“Improving on UKEF’s history of delivering first-class support to businesses, I hope to help modernise what we do, both to help our people and customers.”
