The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) recognised the Richard Stephens Partnership (RSP) in the Covid Achievement Awards. The award was created for 2021 in association with CIBSE Journal.

The award was created to recognise the outstanding work that building services professionals, alongside their supply chain, have undertaken to contribute to the nation’s efforts to combat the effects of Covid-19. In a sector that has been relied upon to keep working despite the challenges posed by making sure that sites and supply chains are Covid secure, organisations have stepped up to the plate and made remarkable changes to the way they work.

Building Design Partnership (BDP) and RSP worked collaboratively to convert the ExCeL London exhibition centre into an emergency Covid-19 hospital with 4,000 intensive care beds. Managing to deliver the first 500 in nine days.

Consultants from different practices supported each other and worked with a huge team of contractors, suppliers, specialists and the Army to deliver a hospital in a timescale not seen before.

RSP made a statement saying that ‘’We are delighted to be recognised by yesterday in the Covid Achievement Awards alongside BDP (Building Design Partnership Ltd) for our work at NHS Nightingale London 11 months ago!

Even more valued to us however is that the opportunity to contribute to the huge national effort came about as a result of the ongoing faith and trust put in us by our NHS Estates and Facilities clients. We always try not to let you down, and truly recognise the importance of the service you provide to the nation and your front line colleagues!’’
