Former Liverpool footballer Ian Rush was left humbled by the unveiling of a mural in his honour in May.

Situated just yards away from Liverpool's Anfield Road Stadium, the mural delivered by MurWalls was created in tribute to 60-year-old Welshman, who scored a club record 346 goals for the Reds while featuring for the club in the 1980s and 1990s.

MurWalls opted to display the artwork opposite the Main Stand of Anfield, and hired out a cherry-picker from lifting equipment rental specialist, Media Access Solutions [MAS], to deliver the striking piece.

Media Access Solutions has for years rented lifting equipment to the TV & film industry, operating from locations in Leighton Buzzard, Pinewood Studios and Birmingham.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com on Thursday May 19 after seeing the mural for the first time, Rush [pictured, centre] himself was delighted with the work that was erected in his honour.

The former striker said: “It’s amazing. It’s the first time I’ve seen it.

“To be so close to Anfield is absolutely amazing, it’s a great honour for me to have my face on the wall. It’s most probably to scare the opposition!

“But for me, it’s great to have something like that. It’s a day I’ll never forget.”
