GTE Training Academy to run training courses in April and May

CITB and City & Guilds accredited course provider, GTE Training Academy, is running a number of courses in April and May to help provide quality training in the tunnelling and construction industries, and basic medical first aid training for children.

All run from the GTE Training Academy Centre in Portishead, near Bristol, the range of courses being run over the next two months is targeted toward providing the best standard of training for individuals both new to and experienced in the construction or civil engineering industries and providing all with basic first aid training.

Health & Safety Awareness [HSA] - One-day course: April 19, 2022

Targeted toward individuals who are considering working in, or already at work in the construction or civil engineering sectors, this course highlights potential onsite hazards and offers practical advice to keep yourself and your colleagues safe.

Participants will cover a range of topics during the one-day course including the legal and management responsibilities for health and safety at work; health and welfare; general safety; high-risk activities; and environmental awareness.

Those who successfully complete the course will be issued with a CITB endorsed HSA certificate which is valid for five years.


Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme [SSSTS] - Two-day course: April 20, 2022 & April 21, 2022

The SSSTS is targeted toward those who already have or are about to acquire any supervisory responsibilities. This two-day training sequence provides supervisors with an understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues, as well as legal responsibilities relevant to their work activities.

This course is also endorsed by CITB and is the standard training requirement for all supervisors working on UK construction sites. It also acts as an ideal lead for candidates who are planning attend the five-day site managers SMSTS Training course at a later stage of their career development.

Those who complete this course successfully will be issued with a CITB SSSTS certificate which is valid for five years.


Mini Medics First Aid for Kids - Morning & Afternoon sessions available: May 7, 2022

Site Management Safety Training Scheme [SMSTS] - Five-day course: May 16, 2022-May 20, 2022

Aimed at project managers, site managers, supervisors, business owners and clients, this course will provide candidates with an understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues on construction sites.

The five-day course covers relevant health, safety and environmental legislation affecting safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. The SMSTS is endorsed by Build UK as the standard training for all construction managers.

Successful candidates receive a CITB endorsed SMSTS certificate which is valid for five years.
