Health secretary Matt Hancock has promised more tests for care homes following complaints that deaths among residents were being "airbrushed" from original figures.

Charities have said that at more than two thousand homes, coronavirus is "running wild".

Meanwhile, new Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has called for the government to publish an "exit strategy" regarding lockdown measures, in spite of the fact that an extension to social distancing measures is to be announced on Thursday.

In France, Amazon has been ordered to limit deliveries following a court ruling that it has "failed to recognise its obligations regarding the security and health of its workers". The French judicial system has said it will fine Amazon one million euros a day if it does not limit its operations.

In India, PM Narendra Modi has almost immediately followed the announcement that he will be extending the lockdown to May by easing restrictions on both farmers and ecommerce firms to support the national economy.

And finally, President Donald Trump has come under fire for pulling support from the WHO, following accusations that the UN agency has "failed in its basic duty" and mismanaged the pandemic.
