Richard Smith is the joint owner and managing director of Opus Land Ltd, a leading UK property development and investment company with offices in the West Midlands and London.

Career Overview

Richard helped found Opus Land Ltd in 1999 and has jointly headed up the firm since. Part owned and funded by Fiera Real Estate, Opus Land enjoys access to substantial in-house capital and has developed an established track record in delivering added-value solutions for real estate. The company has extensive experience of working in partnership with landowners, investors and occupiers.

Richard was already experienced in owning and running his own businesses before Opus Land’s foundation. Between 1985 and 1991 he was a director of Birmingham-based Elliot Son & Boyton, anf from 1991 to 1999 jointly-owned real estate firm Grenville Smith & Duncan Ltd (GSD).

In June 2021, Richard appeared on a Leaders Council of Great Britain & Northern Ireland podcast, discussing the importance of leadership and the impact it has had on their career to date.
