Career Overview

Smith took over as CEO of Driver Require in 2007 following a two-year stint with Autocue Group Ltd. Smith had initially been approached by EPIC Private Equity to turn around the Autocue business in 2005, before being asked to take on Driver Require as one of EPIC Private Equity’s then new acquisitions.

Smith is also experienced in running a start-up business, having co-founded hi-tech wireless telecoms company Norwood Systems in 2000, in partnership with an INSEAD classmate. Smith remained there until joining Autocue five years later.

Prior to the Norwood Systems days, Smith occupied a number of roles with names such as Mobil Oil Company Ltd, Mobil Europe Ltd and Gemini Consulting from the late 1980s through to 1999.

In July 2020, Smith appeared on a Leaders Council of Great Britain & Northern Ireland podcast, discussing the importance of leadership and its impact on his career to date.
