Kaye Sandison is the owner, manager and founder of Hame Fae Hame, a childcare service for children aged one to 12, based in Scalloway, Shetland.

Kaye Sandison is the owner, manager and founder of Hame Fae Hame, a childcare service for children aged one to 12, based in Scalloway, Shetland.

Career Overview

After securing the relevant qualification at university, Sandison began delivering a childminding service local to the Shetlands over 20 years ago. This service provision granted her flexibility to remain at home and care for her own children.

After gradually building up a client base, skillset and personal confidence, Sandison incorporated Hame Fae Hame in 2008 and began to offer a high-quality and flexible service.

Sandison is experienced not only as a parent and childminder but also is well-versed in foster care, and founded Hame Fae Hame with a clear vision of the service she wanted to provide: a “home away from home” which enabled children to grow up to become engaged citizens.

In late 2020, Hame Fae Hame secured funding from the Scottish government to go toward helping reduce child poverty by improving access to care for families on low incomes, with some of the money being invested into improving its facilities.

Education

Sandison is an alumna of the University of the Highlands and Islands, where she secured qualifications required to register as a childcare manager.
