Elspeth McPherson is the CEO of Journey Enterprises, an organisation that helps provide support and life & work skills training for people with complex learning disabilities including Down’s, Williams and Prader–Willi syndromes; cerebral palsy; fragile X syndrome; and autism.

Career Overview

Elspeth today oversees a Journey Enterprises that operates regionally in the communities of the northeast of England, primarily from bases in Hexham, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Bishop Auckland. The organisation hosts 171 clients aged 17 to over 70.

She plays an instrumental role in ensuring that Journey Enterprises carries out all its work to the highest possible standard and in accordance with its vision of enabling those with complex needs to live happy, socially inclusive and fulfilling lives in their own community.

Elspeth as its leader has helped facilitate key partnerships with the Community Partners initiative, Department for Work and Pensions’ flagship programme and Improving Lives over the years, as well as forming relationships with regional job centres in Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, Durham, and Tees Valley to extend their initiative.
