Piperdam Golf & Leisure Resort
Donna Copley is the financial director at Piperdam Golf & Leisure Resort, a holiday park based near Dundee, Scotland, which is operated by Coppergreen Leisure Resorts.
Copley’s tenure as financial director at Piperdam has coincided with new investment in the regenerated city of Dundee. £1 billion was invested into the city’s new waterfront, while £80 million went into a new V&A museum in the area. Thanks to the sprucing up of the city, Piperdam’s accommodation has been highly sought after.
Copley and her fellow directors within the Coppergreen Developments business have also forged a close relationship with Hoseasons, the leading marketing and booking agents for holiday rental properties, who work with roughly 1,500 holiday parks throughout the UK. Guided by their market research, Coppergreen’s leadership team decided to increase its inbound traffic from the EU, a move which has proven successful for the business.
One of the immense challenges Copley and her fellow directors have been forced to grapple with in recent years is recruitment and staff retention. Competition for staff in the revitalised area of Dundee is high and new hotels in the city offer jobs that are more accessible than Piperdam’s more rural setting. Young people also form a critical part of the Piperdam workforce, who take up jobs on a part-time basis alongside study. Addressing these challenges remains a key priority for Copley and her team.
