Career Overview

Andy grew up in Brighton and went on to study Business Management at the University of Bath in Somerset, graduating in 2006. His ambition upon leaving education was to secure a place on a consultancy graduate scheme, which failed to materialise owing to several factors including the global financial crisis.

Following his passion for skiing, Andy made his way in the professional world working as the operations director for a specialist events company, organising and managing events for up to 5,000 clients across Europe’s largest ski resorts.

It was during this time that Andy began developing an understanding for what made different businesses truly tick. Having unsuccessfully tried to venture into consultancy once more, he spent a period of time working in recruitment and headhunting within the retail, logistics and supply chain.

Wishing to branch out and expand his skillset beyond that of a problem solver and build up his strategic prowess, Andy invested heavily into training to build the skills and experience he needed, which culminated in the establishment of Catandra in 2016.

Based in Lewes, Catandra has supported business owners and leaders since its establishment, helping instigate positive change and build businesses into companies fit to deliver on their founders’ visions.

Andy still retains a strong connection to his local area and strives to support local businesses and people where possible. To help do this outside of his work commitments, he holds a voluntary role as a non-executive director with the Sussex Chamber of Commerce.

Andy’s work has seen him become a mentor and business coach on the Virgin Start-Up and BRITE Innovation Inspire programmes, as well as serving as an ambassador for FORE Business, the world’s largest golf/networking community.

In 2021, Andy founded The Director’s Hub, to bring like-minded business leaders together in real and useful networking events to challenge and solve the problems businesspeople face every day.

In October 2021, Andy appeared on a Leaders Council of Great Britain & Northern Ireland podcast, discussing the importance of leadership and the impact it has had on his career to date.

Education
