Amanda Howes is the headteacher at St Augustine’s Academy, a one-form-entry, Church of England primary school situated in the Dunstable area of Central Bedfordshire with approximately 170 children on roll.
Career Overview
Amanda took over the school at a challenging period in September 2017, with it having undergone several changes of headteacher and transitioned into a single academy, Church of England school and primary school. Despite these challenges, the school was adjudged to be “good” by Ofsted and maintained this judgement under Amanda’s leadership at its most recent inspection in June 2018.
More recently, Amanda has guided the school through the extraordinary challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and driven by a determination for the school community thrive the whole institution has been able to remain focused and determined to get through a difficult period.
