Nikki Markham MBE is the head of education of Transferable Skills Training [TST], an organisation established to work with the individuals that have been failed by traditional forms of education and training.

Career Overview

Nikki Markham founded Transferable Skills Training in 2005, having previously served as quality manager at the University of Plymouth.

TST specialises in engaging the hardest to reach most disaffected young people. Many of these youngsters have complex and profound problems which include mental health disorders, learning difficulties and disabilities, substance abuse, homelessness and behavioural disorders.

In addition to her role at Transferable Skills Training, Markham is a founding director of two other organisations, namely Battling On CIC, and Work Skills South West CIC.

Battling On is now a multi-award winning organisation which supports veterans from the Armed Forces. It has been recognised as a Centre of Excellence and was awarded the Queen's Award for Voluntary Services, effectively the MBE for the third sector.

Work Skills South West was established by Nikki to work with individuals that have fallen outside the traditional forms of education and training. It specialises in engaging the hardest to reach individuals, as well as the long term unemployed, those with mental health disorders and adults with learning difficulties and disabilities, while TST focuses on younger individuals.

In June 2020 Nikki Markham appeared on a Leaders Council of Great Britain and Northern Ireland podcast, discussing the importance of leadership and the role it has played in her career to date.

Education

Nikki is an alumna of the University of Plymouth. She completed a Bachelor's Degree in Rural Resource Management there before going on to complete a Master's in Education.

Nikki's Master's studies encompassed a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, Elementary Education and Teaching, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education.
