Career Overview

Before training in accountancy with Emile Woolf in the late 1980s and embarking on a career in the profession, Martin’s background was in hospitality, and he spent three years working as an assistant manager and cost controller for the Westbury Hotel Group.

Martin first moved into accountancy with Beatty and Company in 1988, spending two years with the business before an eight-year stint in a client manager role with Michael Evans and Company.

In 1998 Martin and Michael Evans went into a partnership and formed Evans Mockler. In the same year, Martin also became a director at Highstone Bookkeeping Services. He took up a directorship at another business, Highstone Company Formations, two years later. He relinquished his role with Highstone Bookeeping in 2012 but remains a director of the company formations arm of the company today.

Since 2005, Martin has also held a senior position at Gate Lodge Group, where he is managing director.

In November 2021, Martin appeared on a Leaders Council of Great Britain & Northern Ireland podcast, discussing the importance of leadership and the impact it has had on his career to date.

Education

Martin attended St Finian’s College in Mullingar from 1979 to 1984. He later studied Accountancy at Emile Woolf, London.

Martin is a fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants.
