Dr Gordon Carver is the CEO and clerk at The United Westminster and Grey Coat Foundation, an education charity with its roots in the late-1500s, when influential individuals and families decided to establish Christian schools to support the poor of the parish.

Career Overview

Under Dr Gordon’s leadership today, the foundation has mobilised to enhance learning provision for disadvantaged students and strengthen the already thriving partnerships between the Foundation schools, all of which strive to provide the best education for its pupils. Under the foundation are five schools, namely Emanuel School, Queen Anne’s School, Sutton Valence School, The Grey Coat Hospital, and Westminster City School, spread across London, Reading and Maidstone.

Outside of his academic role, Dr Gordon is the Managing Director of Arboreum, a specialist education consultancy, which helps governments, donors and operators across the globe improve educational quality and capacity. He is also a co-founder and former CEO of Silverleaf Academy in Tanzania, the East African nation’s first affordable private primary school chain. Other institutions Dr Gordon has taught at include Yale University and Dowling College.

Dr Gordon combines front-line teaching experience with a commercial focus borne from his previous Strategy Consultancy role with GEMS Education Solutions in Accra, Ghana.

Education

Dr Gordon in an alumnus of the University of Cambridge, where he completed an MA in English Literature. He completed his Doctorate at Yale University, studying Neo-Classical French Drama.
